Password requirements

Your Vault password is the key to your data. Here's how to choose and protect it correctly.

Password requirements

✅ At least 12 characters
✅ Capital letters (A-Z)
✅ Lower case (a-z)
✅ Figures (0-9)
✅ Special characters (!@#$%...)

Good vs. bad passwords

❌ DO NOT use

  • password123 - In the dictionary
  • MyGold2024 - Too predictable
  • 12345678!From - Simple pattern
  • qwertz!!!! - Keyboard pattern
  • Names of family, pets, birthdays

Recommended

  • kR9$mP2#vL8@tF5! - Randomly generated
  • Correct horse battery clip - Passphrase
  • 2024!Gold#Silver$Platinum - Personal but complex

Backup strategy

🔴 CRITICAL:
Your Vault password can be NOT restored become. If you lose your data lost forever!

Recommended backup methods

  1. Password manager (primary) - Bitwarden, 1Password, KeePass
  2. Paper backup (secondary) - Sealed envelope in the safe
  3. Encrypted file (tertiary) - On external USB stick

Emergency plan

In case something happens to you:

  • 📋 Leave instructions in the will
  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Inform a trusted person about the existence of the vault
  • 🔐 Parts backup location (not the password directly!)

Regular data backups

In addition to the password backup: Export your Vault data regularly!

  • 📅 Monthly: Create JSON export
  • 🛒 After major purchases: Export immediately
  • 💾 Storage location: Encrypted cloud storage or USB stick in the vault
